Five programmes. A return to live audiences. Production management for Melbourne Theatre Company’s reopening after the COVID-19 shutdowns.

THE RETURN
After almost a year without live performance, Melbourne Theatre Company's Summer Series marked a tentative but important return to the stage. Bringing together new Australian writing, staged readings and works in development, the programme offered artists and audiences an opportunity to reconnect with live theatre.
The uncertainty was considerable. With the possibility of further lockdowns ever-present, the series was deliberately conceived as a measured first step towards resuming a full theatrical season.
As Production Manager, I oversaw five distinct programmes delivered across five consecutive weekends, each with its own creative team and production requirements, brought together as a cohesive season. It was an opportunity to rebuild momentum, reconnect creative and technical teams, and contribute to the gradual return of an industry that had spent much of the previous year standing still.
